If you are here, odds are you have a script - one in which you have high hopes. You've probably asked everyone from your mother to your dentist to read it and give you feedback. And while you may value their opinions, you know the constructive criticism from an expert who knows what it takes to get movies made in today's market could mean the difference between a script that's good - and a script that's great.
If you google "script coverage", you'll find a jungle of "experts" offering to read your script. Many of these readers are legitimate and will provide good coverage. But why then are there hundres of thousands of scripts floating around Hollywood NOT being made? Because good isn't good enough. Moreover, most of the coverage you receive today is the exact same kind of coverage a writer received 40 years ago - and that my friend is outdated!
In order to develop our patent-pending methodology for analyzing and covering screenplays, we flew under the radar for over two years while we conducted focus groups and informational meetings with professional script analysts, screenwriting teachers, studio/WGA executives and professional screenwriters. We are thrilled to update the archaic development process with our innovative thinking and apply long overdue technology to revolutionize the literary development process.
Important! - Do not create a digital image of your script by physically scanning the printed pages into a scanner to create a PDF document. Rendering a PDF in this way does not allow our LitAnalysts to select specific text during the analysis process. True Page Count! - Screenwriting software programs such as Final Draft and Movie Magic allow you to condense your script which lowers your page count. DO NOT excercise this tool when submitting your script to LitCentral. The same applies for the "loose" line spacing. If your page count is light, do not increase your line spacing to fill out the script. "Normal" line spacing must be used.
Using our software, we analyze 20 story structure elements found within all great screenplays. Each element is graded and is given a numeric value between 1 and 4 - displayed in your coverage report in the form of a bar graph. This allows you to immediately grasp whether the element (i.e. protagonist) is strong or weak. Just as important, when all of the numeric values are totaled, your script earns an overall score. Reminiscent of "grades" on academia's "GPA" scale, LitCentral calls this score a "Rubric Point Average." Is your script a 2.0, 3.2 or a 4.0 RPA?
LitCentral Coverage Department is the first to offer a hybrid between ordinary coverage service and in-depth script analysis. Our software offers our LitAnalysts a set of tools that allows them to analyze a script as it is being read. This saves time and money and we pass the savings on to you.
You can expect a LitCentral coverage report to consist of a cover sheet, character breakdown, a brief synopsis, 2 - 4 pages of notes, an RPA score, and a bar graph displaying the overall strengths and weaknesses of your script. Written feedback is broken down by elements and includes suggestions for improvement. Knowing exactly how to improve your script, element by element, takes all the guesswork out of the rewrite process. No more "There's something wrong with the second act, fix it"!

Condensing and loosening an entire script is looked upon very unfavorably in the Entertainment Industry. True page count is important because it directly affects the budget and the time constraints of producing a film. Imagine there is interest in your script, but after the true page count is revealed, the interested party has to decline on the material because the script no longer fits within their budget.
